Jan. 8th - 2017 meeting

Please join Western Westmoreland 9.12 members at Kings (our regular meeting place) at 6:00 pm on Sunday, January 8, 2017 for dinner & conversation.
“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.
See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.
Isaiah 43:16, 18-19 NIV
It should be fun since it's our first dinner meeting since the election!
Hope to see you there!

No meeting - December 2016

Since December is a busy month for everyone, there will be no 9-12 get together.  Now that a Clinton is not in the White House (again), we can breathe a sigh of relief and look to the future without the dread of the past 8 years.

We will get back to a normal schedule in January.

Happy Thanksgiving

Merry Christmas

Going away during election? Use Absentee ballot

Below is how to vote by absentee ballot, if you will be out of town on Election Day, April 26, 2016. Each and every vote is important.

Thanks to Betsy Radcliffe (Pittsburgh 912) and Bob Howard "After each election I discover voters who should have voted, but did not vote because they happened to be 'out of town.' You can help correct this situation by using the information below and the [linked] absentee ballot application to get these voters to vote by absentee ballot"
Not sure if you are going to be here to
vote on Election Day, April 26, 2016 ?

Vote now by Absentee Ballot
(1) Print the application from www.votespa.com or from the PDF ...
(2) Complete application --- mark “absence from the municipality” & insert reason*
(3) Mail your absentee ballot application to the address for your county (see below).
(4) When you get your ballot --- follow the directions – vote --- mail back
(5) * Happen to be able to vote on Election Day --- go vote in person & void absentee vote.

Looking forward to Dinner and Conversation, Feb. 7, 2016, 6 pm

Hi Everyone!

Please join Western Westmoreland 9.12 members at King's, for lively conversation. Although there will be no speakers at this meeting, it will be enjoyable to discuss our current political environment. Any suggestions? Post comments: Click on the title of this post and leave a comment, which will appear after being filtered (called "moderated"). Or tell us at the meeting! Guests are always welcome!

The photographer, my son Daniel Ritchie, left a healthy treat for this homeless person*

Well, maybe you would or wouldn't invite this person, but we should remember to help people who are having problems! For example, if you will bring some useful objects to the meeting, I (Sara) will take them to a
homeless shelter, Welcome Home (here's a 2013 article about them), which includes:
Coming to the rescue of the homeless all year round, the organization in Greensburg provides emergency shelter for families and single women for up to 60 days.“People need emergency shelter for all sort of reasons, but it’s usually due to economic reasons,” Mrs. Burrik, house supervisor said. “About 70 percent of our clients are single mothers looking for work. Some are homeless due to a fire in their place of residence and some suffer from alcoholism, mental problems or drug addiction...We’re the only entity in Greensburg that provides shelter for families and women...To enable its clients to get a fresh start, the shelter accepts all sorts of household items and furniture. Some of the most needed items are cribs, beds, couches and chairs, diapers, baby wipes and formula.
(Update: this was a staged charity event, with another son Pete Ritchie, posing as the lost soul, lol)!
